Friendship in the virtual world:

Stephen is an 18-year-old college student. He has many friends in college or you can say in his real world. However, when he returns home, he just puts on the PC button and connects the Internet. Since there are various social networking sites, he is also a member of one of them, but this is his virtual world and unlike the real world when he enters in the community his name is displayed as Rocky.

He has many friends from different countries, as he is very fond of knowing their culture, their tradition, cuisine, etc, etc. However, one fine day he met with a girl in the same social networking site, and she is from his native country. He does not know whether her name is virtual or real but after two days, he decided to reveal his real name to her. But when he asked her the same question, her answer was, “what’s in a name man?”

Stephen is not bothered about knowing her name but he sometimes wants to know the same. However, he thought many times about it and then came to the conclusion that she might want to be in the virtual world, so far as this networking site is concerned. But Stephen’s thought was different. He was happy before he knew the truth. He was happy because he got a good friend, but he did not know that some people don’t want to come in the real world just because they think that virtual friends are like strangers.

I want to ask you friends, do you agree with her thought or what Stephen thinks is right? Please jot down your comments.

Dear Blogger,

U said "Some people don't want to come in the real world just because they think that virtual friends are like strangers. "....Do u really believe in that??? I mean y would you say virtual freinds and the very next moment call them strangers.....???? comon.... if they r ur friends how can they be strangers....either it is friends or aquaintances......but friends being strangers is an unlikely concept.....

Maybe the girl is not certain whether it is safe to reveal her identity or not....or maybe she wants to make sure that the person she is talking to is genuine n not pseudo....before she actually takes that one chance of coming to the real world from her so called " virtual world".....
Umm....so I think Stephen needs go through a paradigm shift in his head so as to think the way this girl thinks and realise as to why she is the way she seems to be....After all girls will be girls....wot they think is anybody's guesss but if u try to get to a certain point where u actually understand a girl...u'll never go astray again...

Another guess could be that maybe this girl doesnt know the difference between the virtual world and real world....but then it seems contradictory as to why she doesnt revea her name if she doesnt know the difference...well my freind the answer lies in the fact that whether it be the real world or the virtual....u just dnt go ahead n give every detail to a stranger.....or do u??? if stephen thinks that she is his friend then all the more reason him to wait till she is ready to tell him her name...I completely agree with "whats in the name "?statement....afterall...its the name that matters or the person who ur'e talking to??? the name wont change a thing.....as long as the other information given to u is correct; the name doesnt matter and one day u'll be surprised how the knowing the name doent affect to u anymore and the next thing u see will be that u know her name......

so its not hard is it??? as long as stephen is happy....thats all that matters....if the rest bothers him soo much then he can discontinue talking to the girl...all is at his will....oh!!....by the way did u mention that after two days of talking to this girl stephen disclosed his real name ..??? u got the answer dude....this is called the wall of web!! stephen did it too....so y cant she??....

Thanks anonymous for your valuable comment. But, it is just a blog and u can't generalize the thing what Stephen has thought abt girls in the virtual world. May be he is right or wrong -- god knows...
